Allama Iqbal's Biography (Life Of Iqbal)

Iqbal was born at Sialkot, India (now in Pakistan), on 9th November, 1877 of a pious family of small merchants and was educated at Government College, Lahore. In Europe from 1905 to 1908, he earned his degree in philosophy from the University of Cambridge, qualified as a barrister in London, and received a doctorate from the University of Munich. His thesis, The Development of Metaphysics in Persia, revealed some aspects of Islamic mysticism formerly unknown in Europe.

On his return from Europe, he gained his livelihood by the practice of law, but his fame came from his Persian- and Urdu-language poetry, which was written in the classical style for public recitation. Through poetic symposia and in a milieu in which memorizing verse was customary, his poetry became widely known, even among the illiterate. Almost all the cultured Indian and Pakistani Muslims of his and later generations have had the habit of quoting Iqbal.

Before he visited Europe, his poetry affirmed Indian nationalism, as in Naya shawala ("The New Altar"), but time away from India caused him to shift his perspective. He came to criticize nationalism for a twofold reason: in Europe it had led to destructive racism and imperialism, and in India it was not founded on an adequate degree of common purpose. In a speech delivered at Aligarh in 1910, under the title "Islam as a Social and Political Ideal," he indicated the new Pan-Islamic direction of his hopes. The recurrent themes of Iqbal's poetry are a memory of the vanished glories of Islam, a complaint about its present decadence, and a call to unity and reform. Reform can be achieved by strengthening the individual through three successive stages: obedience to the law of Islam, self-control, and acceptance of the idea that everyone is potentially a vicegerent of God (na`ib, or mu`min). Furthermore, the life of action is to be preferred to ascetic resignation.

Three significant poems from this period, Shikwah ("The Complaint"), Jawab-e shikwah ("The Answer to the Complaint"), and Khizr-e rah ("Khizr, the Guide"), were published later in 1924 in the Urdu collection Bang-e dara ("The Call of the Bell"). In those works Iqbal gave intense expression to the anguish of Muslim powerlessness. Khizr (Arabic: Khidr), the Qur`anic prophet who asks the most difficult questions, is pictured bringing from God the baffling problems of the early 20th century.

Notoriety came in 1915 with the publication of his long Persian poem Asrar-e khudi (The Secrets of the Self). He wrote in Persian because he sought to address his appeal to the entire Muslim world. In this work he presents a theory of the self that is a strong condemnation of the self-negating quietism (i.e., the belief that perfection and spiritual peace are attained by passive absorption in contemplation of God and divine things) of classical Islamic mysticism; his criticism shocked many and excited controversy. Iqbal and his admirers steadily maintained that creative self-affirmation is a fundamental Muslim virtue; his critics said he imposed themes from the German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche on Islam.

The dialectical quality of his thinking was expressed by the next long Persian poem, Rumuz-e bikhudi (1918; The Mysteries of Selflessness). Written as a counterpoint to the individualism preached in the Asrar-ekhudi, this poem called for self-surrender.

..................... Lo, like a candle wrestling with the night
..................... O'er my own self I pour my flooding tears
.................. I spent my self, that there might be more light,
...................... More loveliness, more joy for other men.

The Muslim community, as Iqbal conceived it, ought effectively to teach and to encourage generous service to the ideals of brotherhood and justice. The mystery of selflessness was the hidden strength of Islam. Ultimately, the only satisfactory mode of active self-realization was the sacrifice of the self in the service of causes greater than the self. The paradigm was the life of the Prophet Muhammad and the devoted service of the first believers. The second poem completes Iqbal's conception of the final destiny of the self.

Later, he published three more Persian volumes. Payam-e Mashriq (1923; "Message of the East"), written in response to J.W. von Goethe's West-östlicher Divan (1819; "Divan of West and East"), affirmed the universal validity of Islam. In 1927 Zabur-e 'Ajam ("Persian Psalms") appeared, about which A.J. Arberry, its translator into English, wrote: "Iqbal displayed here an altogether extraordinary talent for the most delicate and delightful of all Persian styles, the ghazal," or love poem. Javid-nameh (1932; "The Song of Eternity") is considered Iqbal's masterpiece. Its theme, reminiscent of Dante's Divine Comedy, is the ascent of the poet, guided by the great 13th-century Persian mystic Jalal ad-Din ar-Rumi, through all the realms of thought and experience to the final encounter.

Iqbal's later publications of poetry in Urdu were Bal-e Jibril (1935; "Gabriel's Wing"), Zarb-e kalim (1937; "The Blow of Moses"), and the posthumous Armaghan-e Hijaz (1938; "Gift of the Hejaz"), which contained verses in both Urdu and Persian. He is considered the greatest poet in Urdu of the 20th century.

Philosophical position and influence
His philosophical position was articulated in The Reconstruction of Religious Thought in Islam (1934), a volume based on six lectures delivered at Madras, Hyderabad, and Aligarh in 1928-29. He argued that a rightly focused man should unceasingly generate vitality through interaction with the purposes of the living God. The Prophet Muhammad had returned from his unitary experience of God to let loose on the earth a new type of manhood and a cultural world characterized by the abolition of priesthood and hereditary kingship and by an emphasis on the study of history and nature. The Muslim community in the present age ought, through the exercise of ijtihad--the principle of legal advancement--to devise new social and political institutions. He also advocated a theory of ijma'--consensus. Iqbal tended to be progressive in adumbrating general principles of change but conservative in initiating actual change.

During the time that he was delivering these lectures, Iqbal began working with the Muslim League. At the annual session of the league at Allahabad, in 1930, he gave the presidential address, in which he made a famous statement that the Muslims of northwestern India should demand status as a separate state.

Iqbal's grave in Lahore

After a long period of ill health, Iqbal died in April 1938 and was buried in front of the great Badshahi Mosque in Lahore. Two years later, the Muslim League voted for the idea of Pakistan. That the poet had influenced the making of that decision, which became a reality in 1947, is undisputed. He has been acclaimed as the father of Pakistan, and every year Iqbal Day is celebrated by Pakistanis.

Merging Ocean Where Two Water Meet But Don't Get Mix!

Where Two Waters Meet... But do not Mix!

These two bodies of water were merging in the middle of The Gulf of Alaska and there was a foam developing only at their junction. It is a result of the melting glaciers being composed of fresh water and the ocean has a higher percentage of salt causing the two bodies of water to have different densities and therefore makes it more difficult to mix.

iphone5 New Concept... <3

The iPhone 5, to be unveiled by Apple in California on Wednesday evening, will run on the 4G network that goes live in the UK this autumn.

A source has confirmed to the Guardian that the major telecoms network equipment vendors – which include Huawei, Nokia Siemens Networks and Ericsson – have been testing iPhones that work on the 1800 band 4G spectrum to be used in the UK.
Apple has also registered soon-to-be-launched devices that use the frequency with a confidential database operated by the international industry body the GSMA, according to a second source.
Apple's decision to use the 1800 frequency will hand a massive advantage to what is already the UK's largest network, EE.
The company, which already has 27 million customers, announced on Tuesday that it would launch 4G on the spectrum within weeks, while its three smaller rivals will have to wait until Autumn 2013 to be able to market 4G networks.
Being the only network able to offer the iPhone with a 4G subscription hands EE a precious exclusivity with the world's most popular handset.
In 2007, an official two-year exclusive to sell the first iPhones helped propel O2 to the number one spot in the UK and helped trigger the decision by the Orange and T-Mobile groups to merge to form EE in 2009.
Fourth generation (4G) radio signals are likely to be popular with consumers because they can transport information at many times the speed of the 3G networks in use in the UK today.
EE is promising speeds five times as fast, on a par with good Wi-Fi and home broadband connections, so that smartphone owners can watch television and make video calls with ease.
On 31 August, the day EE was given the go-ahead to launch 4G this year by telecoms watchdog Ofcom, it is understood Apple updated its device entry on the GSMA's "master list" to indicate that some of its new products would contain chips supporting 4G on 1800.
Any handset maker wanting to sell devices that run on GSM networks (used in more than 220 countries by nearly 800 operators) is required to register these devices with the organisation.
The process enables them to get the International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) numbers that are unique to each handset sold and must be legally assigned for security and safety reasons.
The product information given by Apple on the master list is minimal, and the devices could be phones or tablet computers or both.
A source close to the network equipment vendors said engineers had been testing 4G iPhones on 1800 for some weeks both in labs and in public places.
EE is able to launch 4G this year because it owns a massive holding of 1800 spectrum. Its rival operators must wait until the next spectrum auction, which could raise as much as £4.5bn for the treasury, to acquire enough bandwidth for their own 4G services.

STUDENT ISSUE

Students are important asset of any society and they need to be cared.Student life is full of charm and enjoy and every one who is in practical life always miss his/her student life. But with lots of joys and fun student life is also have some challenges and problems. Some students didn’t get admission in their desired colleges or in desired study programs. Students of developing countries like Pakistan have lots of problems, as financial problems, poor transportation system of Pakistan, language barrier, insincere teachers and many more problems. Problem of career counseling gets further intensified specifically when this problem is not with everyone. Now a days terrorism and load shedding are the big distracting factors. Students are important asset of any society and they need to be cared.
We as a part of society, shall try helping students, if not financially it can be done by understanding, and listening to their problems. Students who are fortunate enough to get enrolled in institutions does not enjoy high way of peace; un-trained teachers often develop barrier with students to cover their weaknesses.
In spite of all these problems and challenges, the student life is best period of everyone’s life. Some problems faced by students are given below:

 Imposed Study programme:

Student are not free to choose study program of their own choice. We have only 73 public universities and most of the population study in these universities. Parents imposed a field of study which is not suitable for the child or he couldn’t feel good to study in that field. This is very common problem of our society.

Financial Problems:

Students face Financial problem Because in college life there are more that things which are used money. In Pakistan education is very expensive due to the shortage of public educational institutes. Our most of the students belong to the middle class and they have very limited resources. Lots of students have to work part time to sponsor their studies themselves. Students can cope with these crises very easily by a little effort. There are lots of home tuitions available for university students to teach students for 2 or 3 hours and earn money to meet their expenditures. Students can also do a part time job which is related to their studies this would give them a practical experience of their field.

Transportation:

Many educational institutes have their own buses to facilitate the students but still there are lots of students who travel through public transports. Traffic is a very common problem of the citizens of Pakistan. People are packed in the buses and vans like sacks, young students climb up the roofs of the buses. There is great rush on the roads people were on their way to offices, school, colleges, etc and that time there is shortage of public transports on the roads. Due to which buses and vans are full. Government never thinks about the traffic problems of students.

Teachers' insincerity:

This is very common problem and nearly all the students talked about it. Teachers never In our society teaching is not considered a good profession and people who are in this profession not sincere with it. In colleges and universities mostly teachers doesn’t come in time and mostly classes are off due to the unavailability of teachers. Teaching is a very crucial matter and teachers should have enough time to teach students and prepare his lecture well before class. Teachers should not have any task rather than teaching the students. But here teachers have to do lots of other extra works in institutes.

Lake of basic IT knowledge:

Information Technology is most imported thing for students but due to the lack of IT knowledge students faces many problems because it is the era of Information Technology. Computer and internet is involved in every field of life. In Pakistan most of the students didn’t have the basic knowledge of computer and internet when they enroll in colleges or universities. Their lake of IT knowledge creates lots of problems for them. Nowadays, more and more students study abroad. Along with all the problems that international faced, language barrier becomes the biggest problem for international students,

Language Barrier:

Language barrier is also caused lack of confidence among students who got education in Urdu, When students got admission in colleges or universities they face a very common problem of language barrier. Most of the students were studied in Urdu and in colleges and universities most subjects and books are in English. They can’t understand it easily.

Unhealthy environment:

Students usually have to study in unhealthy and non friendly environment. As sometime the fellows and teachers are very non friendly and behave rudely. In Pakistan female students face very unhealthy environment as usually their family didn’t support them to study, most of girls don’t feel comfortable with co-education are the big problems faced by female students.

Student life

I am also a student.who can know about student life better than me?students have many responsibilities at the same time. Student life is a period of preparations. It is a period of education. At this time, our mind is like clay. Clay is a soft thing and the potter designs various things out of the clay. Like clay, our mind can also be shaped in different ways. Once the pots are made their shape cannot be changed. Likewise, once our character is formed in one way, it cannot be changed easily. If we make right use and receive good education during our student life, we shall be successful in future. On the other hand, if we aren’t serious at this time, we can’t achieve our goals.

There are different stages in our life. One of these stages is student days. Student life is considered as the most important period of our life. Our future dreams and hopes depend upon it. Students, therefore, should be very careful. We must think seriously before every step we take. We must learn new things as much as possible at this period.

The most important factor that affects the student life is the value of time. Being a student we should do everything on time as it never waits for anyone. Obeying one’s parents and teachers and respecting and loving one’s elders are the great virtues of a student. Another important part of a student’s life is his/her social life. A student must have good discipline and he/she must be co-operative with everyone. Social life influences our character in many ways.

Students are the future leaders of a nation. The prosperity of a nation depends on its students. We have a responsibility to acquire proper education, maintain good character and live a respectable social life. Obedience, diligence, and regularity are the important parts of student life. We must learn perseverance; it is the root of all success. If we are idle and cannot move on according to time, we can achieve nothing.

Student life is the best part of an individual’s life. At this time our main task is to study. We should stop thinking of anything else and concentrate on education. Education must be given the top priority.

find out that colleges come with challenges and struggles because of the great demands and expectations that are put on the importance of education. Students experience a great deal of stress many times. Thus, it is very important for them to manage a proper routine and stick to it.

At the end I will say student should be punctual and be regular because regularity and punctuality always leads you to success.
